Speaking of great minds... this shot is a no-brainer! But that takes nothing away from it's fabulousness. Here's the view in 1948, avec des periscopes:

In comments people so often talk about the same things, and if I were to simply tell you I admire the quality of the light here, that might be enough. Or I might go on to talk about the reflection, or the wonderful lines from the windows, well, that would be right, too, in expressing my admiration for the shot. But what I really love is the place itself, and I think, how cool that you found this place and wandered in... and thanks for showing us what you saw!

@Crawfordian: I appreciate your kind words. Photographing abandoned places has been a passion of mine, and this particular place carried its own set of risks, but I am glad I made it inside. I encourage you to enjoy the whole set as much as I enjoyed touring this forbidden place. Please do feel free to add me as a contact. I've taken a look at your photos, and enjoy them as well, so I've taken the liberty of adding you.

Thanks! Now I'm offended that you didn't add me as a contact.
Just kidding :-) (not so much after reading your profile explanation)

For you (and your shots), an exception!

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group.
You should join and add all of your Hunters Point photos to the group

Wow!
Your pictures convey the atmosphere of these deserted places so well that I can imagine what it must be like there. I'm going to add you as a contact and hope you might reciprocate. (Got here following a recommendation from Lost America.)

bah! I was outside this building this weekend, but couldn't find a way inside. I went mainly because of this photo. Great capture.

The water on the floor really makes this shot for me.

I wanted to say that I did not intend to copy Telstar Logistic's photo of this same exact room :-). Great minds think alike.
