Compared to some of the other images, this is not among my favorite. But the craftsmanship of the photography itself is magnificent. The rich blacks, the touch of light glinting off the winder, the gleam in the chain. But my favorite detail of all is the deep green of the trees emerging from the dark. That seems to me like it was hard to bring out, even working through photoshop. It would have been maddening under an enlarger. Is the light source on the clock face a low level spot, or deflected light?
