NBC Segment on Jackling House
The Jackling house is a 1926 Mansion built for copper baron Daniel Jackling. Designed by George Washington Smith, it is a preeminent example of a Spanish Colonial Revival design. Some say such designs resemble cheap motels. Others espouse it as a uniquely ‘Californian’ design that should be protected from the wrecking ball. Steve Jobs is trying to have the house demolished, while local preservationists argue for its protection and National Register recognition.
